All hospitals with shortages of doctors, nurses and orderlies will be able to recruit quickly.
The government released today all the doctors' posts requested by medical units and some of the nurses' posts, in a bid to tackle a crisis that has deepened in recent weeks as patients have queued for hours even in emergency departments.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has told those in the system that better services are also needed, with more empathy for patients' suffering and more responsibility for their treatment.
More than 7.600 posts were approved today to be put out to tender, of which, Health Minister Alexandru Rafila said, 2.500 posts are for doctors only and 365 people can be employed in ambulance services. He called on applicant health units to start the competition procedure immediately.
Minister Alexandru Rafila: Health units that have applied for the posts to be put out to tender are to start these procedures immediately, once the memorandum is approved. This is essential, because we do not have to wait six months for the posts to be put out to tender, they can put them out as soon as possible. The procedure says that after publication, within 30 days, the competition for the post can be held. The request is to do this as soon as possible so that these 7.600 or more people who could help the health system can be employed quickly.
Whereas until 1 January, the posts had to be put out to tender with the support of memoranda, from this date, says Minister Alexandru Rafila, all posts vacant for various reasons in the health system can be filled by competition without these steps.
As for the complaints of the SANITAS trade union federation, Minister Rafila acknowledged that there is a sensitive situation with regard to the salaries of TESA staff in many health units, but they are trying to find solutions this quarter. On the other hand, the health minister also appealed to people who are heading to the emergency rooms during this period marked by respiratory illnesses, saying that people who are in more complicated situations, who have comorbidities, should go to these units first, and those with milder forms should go to family doctors first. Encouragingly, the health minister added, the number of flu cases is lower than last year.
