The government and the education unions have established a timetable for the implementation of the changes to the salary law, promised by the executive to end the strike that has paralyzed activity in schools for three weeks. The starting point for the negotiations will be the one agreed at the last meeting.
All calculations will be based on the starting teacher's salary, which will be equal to the average salary in the economy. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Minister Ligia Deca had discussions yesterday with the leaders of the education unions, and the first round of negotiations is scheduled for next week.
The Ministry of Labor promised that by July 15 it will draft the new wage law. It will be approved by the government and, in the autumn session, adopted by the parliament. The parties agreed that the new provisions will apply starting from January 1, 2024.
