Today, January 16, the executive will adopt a decision on holding presidential elections in May this year, as well as the related electoral calendar.
The executive's agenda also includes a number of decisions on investments in road infrastructure, as well as on accepting 100.000 foreign workers into the labor market.
The government wants to officially announce that this year's presidential election will be held on Sunday, May 4. According to the law, if no candidate is found to have the required number of votes to be elected, a second round will be held in two weeks' time, i.e. on Sunday, May 18.
Also under consideration will be the emergency ordinance setting the timetable for the organization of the presidential elections, i.e. the dates for the constitution of the electoral bureaus, when their members are elected, when the electoral campaign will take place and other technical dates for the conduct of the elections.
Another government decision will establish that local elections will also be organized on May 4 to elect the president of the Bihor County Council, after Ilie Bolojan became president of the Senate, and to elect mayors for several localities in 13 counties.
Also on the agenda are other normative acts that will approve the technical-economic indicators for investments in road infrastructure, clarify certain terms in the legislation to allow the allocation of state aid in agriculture and introduce a new quota of 100.000 foreign workers on the Romanian labor market.
