The government adopted on Friday the emergency ordinance by which the commercial additions on the commercial chain are capped in the case of some basic foods. It is about assortments of dairy products, meat, eggs, flour, sugar and oil, vegetables and fruits, a total of 14 categories of goods for which processors and stores will no longer be able to put a commercial markup higher than 20% each, and distributors - at most 5%.
The measure will be applied in the next three months and is intended to temper recent price increases and inflation.
Also in Friday's meeting of the executive, a support scheme worth 600 million euros was approved for food producing companies that invest in processing units, as well as state aid for animal breeders, farmers and small entrepreneurs.
