RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - The government must focus on measures that can be taken in the short term to manage the effects of the energy crisis, says Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, who is also considering solutions to increase domestic production capacity.
It is one of the main issues that was addressed in yesterday's executive meeting.
RRA reporter, Petruta Obrejan, transmitted: "The Oltenia Energy Complex could put into operation another turbine in the next period to produce 300 Megawatts, and by completing the investment from Iernut Power Plant by the end of this year, another 210 Megawatts will be produced, said Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, stating that Efforts are being made to achieve an important goal, namely to achieve energy independence, especially since Romania has the resources to do so. In fact, in recent days there have been several discussions within the coalition, at the level of the Ministry of Energy, but also with the managers of energy companies, including representatives of an American company interested in developing modular nuclear power capabilities.
Nicolae Ciuca: “It is also a possibility that in 2 years, together with the Institute from Pitesti, this company will be able to complete a demonstrator which, later, will be able, depending on the results, to move to a bigger production, so that we can increase and reach that goal that we set, of energy independence.”
Currently, the expenses made by Romania in support of the Ukrainian refugees reach 54.7 million lei, expenses that are to be settled through the financial mechanisms of the European Union.
