The Fiscal Council criticizes the budgetary rectification

The Fiscal Council warns that the rectification overestimates future budget receipts.

In other words, of the 30 billion the government counts on, 9 billion will not actually come.

Also, the Fiscal Council fears that part of the expenses would be undervalued by more than 6 billion lei. Among the expenses that could be higher than estimated are those with the energy bill compensation scheme.

The government estimates them at just under 7 and a half billion lei, while the Fiscal Council fears that the state will have to take out much more money. This fact will lead to an increase in the deficit.

Experts thus warn that the deficit could even exceed 7 percent of GDP, compared to the one estimated in the rectification at 5.84 percent.
