The first section of the Craiova-Pitesti Express Road will be completed this year.
There are another 17 kilometers to be added to the 77 kilometers of this high-speed road that are already ready, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said today in Craiova.
He visited with the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, the construction sites on sections 1 and 4 of the expressway, and in the afternoon they arrived in the Olt Valley to see the state of the clearing works that closed the national road.
Investments in infrastructure are the most important, as they multiply the fastest in the economy, says Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, adding that the expressway between Craiova and Pitesti is an example in this sense and later the same will be for Craiova - Constanta.
Marcel Ciolacu: Good news, it seems that the 17km which was the first section will be completed this year. There are 77km of this express road between Craiova and Pitesti, already completed, with the last section, section four, where we hope to close as soon as possible. It's one of the roads that multiplies the most in the economy, it has a multiplication coefficient of one to eight.
The Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, said that even after the elections, regardless of the outcome and the color of the government, transport must remain a priority, because it will generate further economic development for Romania.
Sorin Grindeanu: In terms of progress on the ground, we are at about 80% on this lot. I also had a discussion with those who are also in charge of Lot 4. They are the ones who did lot 2 and lot 3. This is a serious Romanian company that is doing its job. I'm optimistic that this fall we'll have the express road in circulation.
