The first anti-drug counselling and information centre for teenagers operates in the Grand Arena mall in Bucharest. The services are offered free of charge, and young people from outside the capital can also benefit from them. They receive help from psychologists, social workers and psychiatrists. The head of the National Anti-Drug Agency, Ramona Dabija, says which substances are most commonly used by young users.
Ramona Dabija: "Among the most abused substances among teenagers at national level, in a random order, we are talking about cannabis, new psychoactive substances, medicine abuse, followed by cocaine and other drugs. The ones that do the most damage, however, both physically and mentally, are the new psychoactive substances, those synthetic drugs produced in laboratories."
The age of drug users has increasingly dropped to 12 years old.
