The fire in Arges "could not have started by natural causes"

The IGAV's two Black Hawk helicopters withdrew last night after dropping 240 tons of water, a vital aid because the strong wind has favored the spread of the flames, and the rocky terrain makes ground intervention extremely difficult.
The operation was extensive. Over 150 firefighters, rangers and volunteers took part. There are still sensitive areas that need to be monitored, as some of the outbreaks that had been extinguished reignited on Sunday.
Authorities say the fire could not have started by natural causes and are investigating the source of the fire, with several options being analyzed, said Arges ISU chief Colonel Alin Berevoescu.
Alin Berevoescu: What is certain is that, in terms of weather conditions or natural causes, it is quite unlikely, given the location and timing of the outbreak, so it was most likely human negligence. Colleagues from the County Police Inspectorate will make the necessary checks to see what started the fire. There were some noises. That's why we're also checking for possible firecrackers in the area. We're also checking for the possibility of a cigarette. There are several hypotheses that are being considered and each of them will be checked. What is certain is that many institutions have intervened here, in collaboration and in cooperation with the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the General Aviation Inspectorate, local structures, all the forestry offices in the county, so we have all been mobilized these days.
