The film "Position of the Baby" won the Golden Bear

The film "Position of the Baby" by Calin Netzer won the Golden Bear.

This is the first Romanian film that receives the trophy.

"Position of the Baby" was in official competition with 18 other films.

The trophy received by the Romanian film comes after Calin Netzer’s film received Friday film the award of the international criticism.

Berlin Festival is the second most important European film festival after Cannes.

Calin Netzer and producer Ada Solomon received hands statue of the famous Chinese director Wong Kar Wai who chaired the jury this year.

"I'll try to tell something, I am speechless, I want to thank the jury for this incredible award," said Romanian director Calin Netzer.

The director thanked the German organizers and his team.

"The position of the child" is a psychological drama about the sick relationship between a domineering mother and her adult son taking place mostly in the apartments of a newly rich Romanian family.

Luminita Gheorghiu plays the possessive mother and Bogdan Dumitrache that of the son suffocated by the maternal love.

March the 8, the film will be screened in Romania

The story is written by Razvan Radulescu and Calin Netzer, and from March 8th we will be able to see it on the big screen.

"The position of the Baby" is the third feature film by Maria Calin Netzer in 2003 and the Medal of Honor in 2010.

Although the film was highly rated by experts, the Romanian team's victory was a surprise as saying Berlinale film critic Giulia Ghica Dobre.

"The atmosphere was very, very intense shock because although it was the favorite movie of all juries, by most film critics, by most journalists since the first viewing of the festival, there are some games backstage, interests that do not always make the winner who deserves, "said the film critic.

Calin Netzer registers among names like Cristi Puiu, Cristian Mungiu, Corneliu Pormuboiu, Florin Serban and Marian Crisan on the list of winners of prizes in Romanian cinema.
