President Klaus Iohannis says that the winter summit of the European Union, which ended on Friday in Brussels, remains marked by the historic decision to start accession negotiations with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.
He encouraged the Chisinau government to further accelerate reforms for integration into the Union.
Regarding Ukraine, the president of the European Commission said that it was a promise kept and an investment in stability and security.
European leaders also discussed the war between Israel and Hamas on Friday, and Ursula von der Leyen spoke about the situation in Gaza, as RRA correspondent Bogdan Isopescu reports.
The President of the Commission condemns the continuation of hostilities on both sides and the increase in Palestinian civilian casualties, both in Gaza and the West Bank. She announces five more flights with humanitarian aid.
Ursula von der Leyen: So far, the European Union has delivered 28 humanitarian flights, carrying 1.200 tons of aid to Gaza, and we are planning five more flights by the end of the year.
Basically, European leaders say that peace will not be achieved until the two-state solution, Israel and Palestine, is established, and until that is achieved, the European Union demands that the Palestinians not be forced to leave their territories and rejects the idea of an Israeli military presence for security in Gaza.
