The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) will propose to the Public Ministry the deregistration of approximately one hundred "inactive" parties, which did not participate in two consecutive elections in the last years, announced the president of the Authority, Constantin-Florin Mituletu-Buica, writes Agerpres.
"Since 2015, when the legislative change was made according to which a political party can be established by at least three Romanian citizens with the right to vote, we, AEP, at this moment, are in a big problem. Out of 190 parties that appear as active in the Municipal Court, almost 100 are inactive from all points of view" said Mituletu-Buica during the "What do we do with the electoral reform?" debate, organized by Expert Forum.
Referring to the opinion that the measure of abolishing some parties because they did not participate in two consecutive elections would be too restrictive, he said that those parties do not respond to the requests of the AEP.
According to the electoral expert Septimiu Parvu, the Expert Forum checks in the Official Gazette reveal that the publications required by law are made only by 28-30 parties.
"There are about 28-30 parties that publish donor lists and other obligations in the Official Gazette," Parvu said.
He expressed hope that the budget allocation for political parties, of about 50 million euros in the election year, would be diminished.
