Prime Minister Victor Ponta announced that Minister of Education, Ioan Mang, called the closure of the minister of education "given the situation that was made ".
The prime minister said he accepted the request of Ion Mang to resign.
Interim ministry in charge will be provided by the Minister for Social Dialogue, Liviu Pop, following a statutory period of 45 days to be nominated another Minister.
Victor Ponta said that the interim assured by Liviu Pop was accepted by President Traian Băsescu.
"From my point of view, Ioan Mang currently has loose hands to be able to defend his image, prestige and work for all these years and I am absolutely convinced that in the coming days, without having the pressure of this function which proves to be more difficult than I ever thought, will restore the truth and it will help myself, and probably you, to understand what was behind these repeated attacks on those who have been nominated as Minister of Education, "said Victor Ponta.
The prime minister asked on Monday to the president of the Romanian Academy, Ionel Haiduc, to make a commission in order to examine the allegations of plagiarism brought to the Minister of Education, Ioan Mang, suspected, according to Victor Ponta, that "took information from various articles published by authors from Japan , Taiwan and Israel. "
Victor Ponta then explained that he asked the expertise of the Romanian Academy in this matter "given the level of expectation created in public opinion", on the one hand, and because of security and legitimacy that an evaluation committee composed of specialists from Romanian Academy will provide in this case.
PDL has demanded the resignation of Education Minister, Ioan Mang, "because the whole work he has is a plagiarism dozen" as stated on Wednesday, the Democrat-Liberal president, Emil Boc.
Emil Boc has submitted an article of the current education minister that he would have published in 2003 in Craiova and, according to the Democrat-Liberal Party (PDL), is "entirely a copy of another scientific article of Japanese authors."
Later, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said that Ioan Mang will be replaced from the head of the ministry of education if the allegations of plagiarism are confirmed, but that he hopes is not the case.
Ioan Mang said about the charges of plagiarism that it is a "political action", whose purpose would be to create chaos in the education system.
Ioan Mang became the Education Minister after he replaced Corina Dumitrescu, who was the first proposal of Prime Minister Victor Ponta for this portfolio.
Corina Dumitrescu, Prime Minister Victor Ponta proposal for the education portfolio, has studied at Stanford University as stated in the resume posted on the MSC.
