Favorable final vote in the Chamber of Deputies for the legislative project that provides for salary increases for some categories of budgeters and which generated heated discussions at the debates in the Labor Committee.
Compared to the form adopted in the Senate, the general salary increase for all dignitaries, including the president, members of the government, parliamentarians or heads of public institutions, was eliminated, and it was kept only for local elected officials.
Salary increases are kept for mayors, vice-mayors, presidents and vice-presidents of county councils. The staff from local administrations will also receive additional money, given that salaries are set according to the allowance of the deputy mayor or the vice president of the County Council, which is adjusted annually to the value of the minimum wage.
The deputies of the parliamentary majority claimed that for a high-performing public administration, an adequate salary is also needed, and the document - they said - fixes an inequity and will have positive effects in the case of all officials in local public administrations.
Instead, the opposition representatives pointed out that the financial effort for salary increases will also be borne by the private sector. They argued that all categories affected by inflation and the economic crisis should benefit from increased wages, not only the privileged ones. USR has already announced that it will appeal the legislative project to the Constitutional Court.
