RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - 350 soldiers, seven river vessels and nine armored amphibious transporters took part, on Wednesday, on the Sfantu Gheorghe arm of the Danube, in a training sequence, part of the "Danube Protector 22" exercise which was planned since last year by the Naval Forces Staff.

The first part of the exercise took place last week on the Macin arm of the Danube, where the participating forces fired live ammunition.

Rear Admiral Cornel Rogozan, Commander of the River Flotilla Mihail Kogălniceanu: "We have a good training of the ship crews, of the Marines, they have proved that they can act together and that we can perform missions in our area of responsibility. We are present on the whole Danube river, we are present in the Delta, and on the inland Danube We will also be present upstream, up to Bazias, on all the 1.071 kilometers of river that Romania has.”

According to the Romanian Naval Forces, the main objective of the exercise is to consolidate the military's skills for performing tactical actions to counteract an aero-mobile landing in the conditions of hybrid threats - says RRA correspondent Luiza Rosetti.
