Prime Minister Ponta has declared at Victoria Palace that Romania’s obligations stipulated in the agreements with the three international financial institutions—IMF, World Bank and the EU committee, will not be affected by the current political crisis.
The vice president stated that the executive will take every necessary measure to ensure the compliance of the obligations assumed internationally.
All of the obligations assumed in the context of the Cooperation and Certification Mechanism will be brought to fulfill in spite of the many political animosities, he added.
He also reinforced the Government’s promise to continue its structural reforms and to respect the agreements assumed with a view to ensuring Romania’s macro stability and economic predictability.
He also added that regardless of the Parliament’s decision, the Government will ensure the country’s stability in the near future, until a possible referendum, and the complete stability of the CC, the General Court Assemblies, DNA( National Anticorruption Directorate) and ANI (Integrity National Agency).
The conflict between the Parliament and the President must not affect the judicial system, and the Government will ensure the independence and the stability of these institutions, the chief of the executive said.
He made this statement prior to the extraordinary session of the Parliament where the USL petition for the dismissal of the President will be put to the vote.
