Two important investment contracts were signed at the Victoria Palace. They concern the modernization of the Izvorani Olympic Sports Base and the resurfacing of the Unirii Square in Bucharest. Their total value is almost 900 million lei.
The development of Romanian entrepreneurship and its competitiveness in an open market is a certainty, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said, even after the two contracts were awarded.
According to him, Romania needs to invest in both performance and mass sport and, at the same time, the restoration of the Unirii Square pavement is more than necessary, as it is a vital junction for the safety of those in traffic and for the entire area.
Marcel Ciolacu: I know this is not an easy project. In addition, during the works we will have a period of traffic restrictions, which is why it is essential that the works are carried out quickly and on time.
Daniel Baluta, mayor of Sector 4, explained that the allocation of financial resources by the Government will solve one of the biggest infrastructure challenges in Bucharest and even in the center of the capital.
Daniel Baluta: Experts have signaled in time how serious is the challenge generated by the state of the Unirii floor, and our responsibility is to quickly find the best and sustainable solution.
The President of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Mihai Covaliu, is convinced that the project to rebuild and modernize the Izvorani base will improve the performance of our athletes.
Mihai Covaliu: The Olympic family and the Romanian sports world have been waiting for this project for a long time and we are happy that the sports infrastructure is starting to become more and more efficient, precisely to improve the results of Romanian athletes and Romania's representation in the world.
