On Wednesday, the Romanian College of Physicians signed a partnership agreement with the National Transplant Agency in order to raise awareness of organ and tissue transplantation among Romanian doctors. According to RRA reporter Adriana Turea, the signing of the document comes in the context of the fact that more than 3.000 people nationwide need a transplant.
The president of the Romanian College of Physicians, Professor Dr. Catalina Poiana, explains what the College will do to ensure that as many doctors as possible are correctly informed about organ donation and transplantation: The most important aspects concern, first and foremost, participation in scientific conferences, such as, for example, the Conference of the College of Doctors of Bucharest. In addition to the scientific lectures that are in the program, we will have invited experts from the National Transplant Agency, who will come with additional information. Another important aspect is the e-mailing of information about this awareness among doctors.
The Executive Director of the National Transplant Agency, Dr. Guenadiy Vatachki, believes that this will pave the way for better collaboration between doctors: 'We aim to work together to educate the general public and raise awareness among medical professionals about organ donation and transplantation, debunking prejudices and providing correct information.
Dr. Guenadiy Vatachki added that organ and tissue donation is a profound decision that can radically change the lives of those on waiting lists.
