The ministers proposed for the Ciolacu Cabinet received favorable opinions in the specialized commissions. All the proposals of ministers in the Cabinet headed by Marcel Ciolacu received favorable opinions, following the hearings in the specialized parliamentary commissions held throughout the day, and the composition of the future government will be submitted to the plenary vote today. It is only about ministers appointed by PSD and PNL.
They keep their portfolios in the Executive led by Nicolae Ciuca: Ligia Deca for Education, Sorin Grindeanu for Transport, Marius Budai for Labor, Alexandru Rafila for Health, Gabriela Firea for the Ministry of Family and Angel Tivar for Defense.
Some of the members of the former government are changing ministries: Sebastian Burduja takes over the Energy portfolio, Marcel Bolos the Finance portfolio, Catalin Predoiu becomes Minister of the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister, and Adrian Caciu moves to Investments and European Projects.
There are also many new names in the composition of the new cabinet: PSD deputy Florin Barbu will be the Minister of Agriculture, liberal senator Alina Gorghiu will take over the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, the current president of the Brasov County Council from the PNL, Adrian Vestea, has been appointed to Development, and Bogdan Ivan, the youngest member of the new government team, social democratic deputy, will be the Minister of Research.
The leader of the PSD senators, Radu Oprea, takes over the Ministry of Economy, and the PNL MP Raluca Turcan - Culture.
Luminita Odobescu, the former permanent representative of Romania to the EU, will be the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mircea Fechet, a liberal deputy, was appointed to the Ministry of the Environment, which he led for a short time, at the end of 2020.
At the time of today's vote, in the plenary session of the Parliament, PSD and PNL also rely on the representatives of minorities, other than the Hungarian one.
The opposition has already announced that it will vote against the new government, but even within the coalition there are MPs who have declared that they do not support the future executive. UDMR representatives say they will not participate in the vote.
