At the beginning of November, the Chisinau-Bucharest train will resume its traffic, after a break of 20 months.
Traffic was stopped in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The director of the Moldovan Railway, Oleg Tofilat, specified for IPN that, initially, there will be two trips per week, on Tuesday and Friday, and later, depending on the number of passengers, the number of trips could be increased.
The duration of the Chisinau-Bucharest train journey is around 13 hours.
Oleg Tofilat said that the relaunch of the Chisinau-Bucharest trips depends on several aspects. "It is necessary to confirm the availability of the network. We must succeed, however, in repairing the wagons on time. It may happen that some components do not arrive on time".
Oleg Tofilat added that, also from the beginning of November, the resumption of the trips to Iasi and Odessa, on modernized trains, is expected.
