The 84 million Euros project for broadband internet in poor areas initiated by the European Union is resumed.
The announcement has been made on Tuesday by the minister of communications and information society, Dan Nica.
The project consists in building a backbone for internet broadband connection in 3.648 districts of the country where now almost one million people live with no access to the internet.
“I unblocked everything that was blocked, including the broadband. I restarted it.”
“I don’t understand why three years were wasted by doing nothing, because the risks of losing the broadband connection project were huge”, stated the minister of communications, Dan Nica.
He also said that by the end of this year, Romania could transmit 15 ethereal digital television programs, not using cable, at least in the big cities.
Romania promised to the European Union to finish the transition to digital television by the 1st of January, 2015.
