RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - The Azomures chemical plant announces that it is partially resuming its fertilizer production, after a year and a half interruption caused by the increased gas price. The restart was done with imported ammonia, at a lower cost than Romanian gas. The spokesperson of the combine, Ovidiu Maior, told Radio Romania Targu Mures that production could increase from this summer.
Ovidiu Maior: "It is a partial restart, somewhere at 10% of the normal capacity of the plant, a restart that could be achieved with ammonia, our basic imported raw material. It was brought from a European country, where the price of gas is in this time reduced. We're going to be operating like this for a few days, and then in the next period we'll be able to get some more imported ammonia and we'll be producing fertilizer, hopefully at some point this summer, to restart at least one of our ammonia plants to have continuous production."
Under normal operating conditions, Azomures produces 1.6 million tons of fertilizers, three quarters of this quantity being destined for Romanian farmers.
