The assignments for kindergartens start on Monday and ends on April 2, 2012. For interested parents and public information, in every preschool education unit and on the website of the School Inspectorate from Bucharest (ISMB), www.ismb.edu.ro, will be posted the specifications and the schedule for assignment.

The spokesman of ISMB, Marian Banu, has declared that in order to assure the assignment process transparency, the heads of the preschool education units will post the capacity of kindergarten (the number of children for which it was designed) and number of children approved by the school plan for year 2012-2013 (on age groups: small, medium, high).

Also, every day at the end of the program, the number of assigned children and the available spots will be posted.

The reassignments in kindergarten, for children who were in the respective education unit in the year 2011-2012, took place within the period March 1-31.

The general inspector of the School Inspectorate from Bucharest, Cristian Alexandrescu, was estimating at the beginning of March that there will be gained between 2000 and 3000 places in kindergarten at capital level, by introducing the preparatory class in schools.

“We estimate that somewhere around 2000, 3000 places will be in addition for this year for kindergartens in Bucharest, so that we could give the possibility of many people from Bucharest to bring their children in kindergartens.”

“On the other hand, still checking the number supplementation of kindergartens, we also have the possibility to make everything so that the number of children within a group to be decreased, so that the educational act of teachers for the preschool education to be more correct, existing the possibility that every kindergarten to create its own organization politic”, affirms the representative of ISMB.

According to Cristian Alexandrescu, Bucharest is unable to favorably endorse the requests of all parents who want to assign their children in kindergarten, thing that happens from an “objective” reason –the lack of physic space that kindergartens have.

“No matter how much we wanted to be able to receive all children who want to start the classes of a kindergarten, we were not physically able to introduce all of them within this system. It seems that every year we had a number of 7000-8000 requests that we could not favorably endorse.”

“This thing, once with the appearance of the preparatory class, will lead to a supplementation, practically, of the number of spots in kindergartens, giving the possibility that this deficit of spots that we have at the capital level to be significantly decreased”, explained the general inspector.

In Bucharest, there are 179 kindergartens and schools with state preschool education.
