The anti-HPV vaccine, virus responsible for triggering cervical cancer, could be included in the list of reimbursed medicines in Romania in the future.
Thus, women between the ages of 18 and 45 will also have better access to immunization.
Currently, in Romania, only girls who are between 11 and 18 years old can get vaccinated against HPV for free.
According to the Ministry of Health, 100.000 young women have been vaccinated so far through the national program.
The president of the Association of Family Doctors Bucharest-Ilfov, Sandra Alexiu, stated that there are already areas around the globe that have declared the virus eradicated thanks to vaccination against HPV.
