The amendment to the Offshore Law, which regulates the exploitation of natural gas in the Black Sea, was accelerated by the governing coalition, after the final form was agreed by the leaders of PNL, PSD and UDMR.
The draft is due to enter the parliamentary debate next week for adoption in an emergency procedure.
The adoption of the amendments to the Offshore Law could unblock the exploitation in the gas perimeter of the Black Sea that Romania owns.
As such, the leaders of the governing coalition agreed on a legislative initiative to be adopted in an emergency procedure.
A variant taken into account is that the Romanian state should receive at least 60% of the profit obtained after the extraction of natural gas, and private companies - 40%.
Currently, the legislation provides for a progressive tax between 30 and 70 percent on the additional revenues obtained from the increase in the price of natural gas, and companies have the obligation to sell 50 percent of gas production on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Recently, the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, announced that from this year there will be one billion cubic meters of natural gas in addition to the existing ones and gave assurances that the amendments to the Offshore Law will be adopted in Parliament.
