RADIO ROMANIA NEWS - The working agenda of the parliamentarians, before the winter vacation, is a busy one since the first day of the week. In the legislature, there are still reactions and approaches to the rejection of Romania's accession to the Schengen Area.
Iulia Gherman has details: "Parliament meets on Monday, in a joint session, from 15:00 to debate and vote, among other things, the establishment of the allied battle group on the territory of Romania under the leadership of France and the appointment of some members to the National Council for Combating Discrimination and in the Foreign Intelligence Service commission. From 6:00 p.m., the speech of the European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola, who will be in Bucharest on a working visit between December 19-20, in the context of Romania's refusal to join the Schengen Area, is scheduled for the plenary session.
Together with the European official, the president of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, Alina Gorghiu and Marcel Ciolacu, as well as Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, will make statements in the plenary session. Also on Monday, "Government Hour" is scheduled at the Chamber of Deputies, with the participation of Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu. The presence of the head of diplomacy was requested by USR representatives, who claim that missing the goal of joining the Schengen Area represents a major failure of foreign policy and demand answers and explanations from the responsible factors in government.
Moreover, on the subject of Schengen, the USR submitted a simple motion against the Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Bode. The document has until the end of next week for a report from the specialized commission. However, it is unlikely that it will enter the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies for debate and vote in the coming days, given that the Parliament is on vacation from Friday, December 23 to February 1."
