The age at which young people in Romania start using drugs has dropped to 13, according to the latest report of the National Anti-Drug Agency, and the most consumed are cannabis and new psychoactive substances.
However, anti-drug specialists draw attention to the fact that young people also abuse drugs released with or without a medical prescription, which they take in large quantities to induce a euphoric state.
"Worrying is the abuse of drugs. Children are looking for a way to escape from their real world. In fact, they are not dealing with the problems they face in the family, at school or in the community in general. Then they try to cry out help and believe that the easiest way is this, to consume substances that give them the illusion, for a few moments, that they can face any challenge. We draw the attention of parents who must supervise children and talk to them and explain to them which are the consequences of drug abuse", said Ramona Dabija, director of the National Anti-Drug Agency.
The report of the National Anti-Drug Agency shows that a ton of drugs and approximately half a million tablets were seized last year by the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.
