The delegation of 107 athletes is the largest Romania has presented in the last 20 years!
Our representatives will be competing in 18 disciplines, rowing with 45 athletes, water polo and athletics with 13 athletes each, being the disciplines with the most Romanian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
David Popovici, Catalin Chirila, Ancuta Bodnar and Simona Radis are the stars of the delegation.
Eliza Samara (table tennis) is the most experienced sportswoman in the squad, and will be present at the fifth edition.
Bianca Ghelber (athletics), Marius Cozmiuc (rowing) and Alin Alexuc Ciurariu (wrestling) have four Olympic Games appearances.
National water polo goalkeeper Mihai Dragusin is making his second appearance at the Olympics in 12 years. Romania last competed at London 2012 and the Steaua champion was part of the team that finished 10th.
Only two of Team Romania 2024 are Olympic champions, Ancuta Bodnar and Simona Radis. Other medallists in the current squad are Mihaita Tiganescu, Mugurel Semciuc, Stefan Berariu, Marius Cozmiuc, Ciprian Tudosa (silver at Tokyo 2020) and Madalina Beres (bronze at Rio 2016).
At the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, COSR's objective is to obtain 6-8 medals, and if TEAM ROMANIA will achieve this, the final ranking will be better than the last two editions (47th place at Rio 2016 and 46th place at Tokyo 2020).
From Wednesday, July 24, a team of 5 Radio Romania journalists will be in Paris to report from the Olympic Games.
