Tarom will compensate travelers

The action of TAROM pilots, who suddenly declared themselves unfit to fly yesterday, has caused major problems for passengers, who should have been informed in advance so that they could plan their journeys differently, says transport commissioner Adina Valean.
She warned that the situation does not bode well in a context in which the company benefits from state aid approved by the European Commission:
The European Commission has approved, after a long negotiation process, state aid for Tarom. This means a clean bill of health, it means a fresh start for the company.
This approval was made on the basis of a restructuring plan with precise forecasts, which is considered by the European Commission to be a good plan to make the company profitable.
It would be a pity if, as long as they have created the basis for future profitability, it were to be diminished by other events and happenings that are not foreseeable.
Tarom will reimburse all travelers who have purchased tickets directly from the company and who submit a request for reimbursement of compensation to the specially created address despagubire8iulie@tarom.ro.
Those who bought tickets through other companies should send their claims there, says the National Authority for Consumer Protection.
Passengers must also keep and make available the receipts or invoices with which they purchased accommodation, transportation, minimum necessities during the period when the flight was canceled and until re-routing.
