President Traian Băsescu has scheduled talks this Tuesday with Parliament parties on the Council of Europe, the IMF and Schengen accession perspectives.
The members of the opposition announced they will not attend the debates at the Cotroceni Palace, as they did before, in October .
Social-democrats say they are expecting a serious initiative from the president.
“When a serious and real intention appears, then we will be ready for each important thing in Romania’s future. Now, Mr. Băsescu does not have this volition.”
“This is just a game, and we don’t play Traian Băsescu’s games. He has his own bit-players, you’ll see them, they will stand up straight, salute him, clap, and for all the rest of us this will mean nothing”, asserted Victor Ponta, head of PSD.
Neither Liberals will participate in the talks, saying that Traian Băsescu “has lost his mediator qualities.”
But, since they believe the subjects suggested by the president are indeed important, the liberals invited for debates government members and members of parliament, except for NUPR(National Union for the Progress of Romania), to convene upon measures of national interest.
Conservatives also announced they will not honour Traian Basescu’s invitation, affirming that the president’s sole purpose is a new debate, considering that he needs the parliament’s approval on two subjects.
