Sustainable reduction of energy prices, an objective of Romania and the EU

Romania advocates a coordinated and rapid approach at European level to ensure a sustainable reduction in energy prices, says President Klaus Iohannis.
According to a press release, the head of state said at the Union summit in Brussels that Bucharest encourages the development of new energy sources, mentioning the potential of exploiting the gas reserves of the Black Sea.
At the meeting, the 27 agreed on the steps to be taken to stop the rise in prices and asked the Commission to present a plan to establish a temporary mechanism to cap the tariff of gas used for the production of electricity.
The European leaders also agreed that there is a need for joint gas purchases.
