The Senate Chairman, Mircea Geoana called the decision of his suspension from the party for six months, taken by the National Permanent Bureau of PSD a non-statutory measure, adding that he remains a member of the party "no matter what kind of political feud takes place".

According to Mircea Geoana, his suspension might have been debated in the Dolj organization, where he is a member.

"In my point of view, this decision doesn’t have a statutory basis", stated Mircea Geoana.

The National Permanent Bureau of PSD decided by vote the suspension from the party of Mircea Geoana for six months.

Concerning the dismissal from his Senate place, the PSD leader, Victor Ponta said that this is another suspension and nobody proposed anything like that.

"Nobody wants to withdraw, it’s very clear this aspect. This is another suspension if you read in the Party rules".

The suspension has been voted for six months, the Senate place belongs to PSD and Mr. Geoana keeps having our support’, said Victor Ponta.
