Summary of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu's visit to the United States of America

During the four-day visit to the United States, to Washington and New York, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu discussed with American officials the development of the strategic partnership and the inclusion of Romania in the Visa Waiver Program, as well as issues related to attracting new American investments in Romania.
The Head of the Executive from Bucharest met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and members of the American Congress, as well as UN officials.
The development and deepening of the strategic partnership with the United States, especially in the fields of defense, security, energy, trade, was at the center of the discussions between Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and senior American officials. Also, during the entire visit, the emphasis was placed on the strategic importance of the Black Sea, the idea of increasing the American military presence in the country, strengthening NATO's position in this region.
In addition to the political meetings, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and members of the delegation also met with representatives of Lockheed Martin and Google, so the last day of the visit to New York was marked by talks with the President and Secretary General of the United Nations, Dennis Francis and Antonio Guterres.
Obviously, the situation in Ukraine was also on the agenda, the way in which Romania understood to react by supporting refugees, including currently ensuring the transit of grain, but also the situation in the Gaza Strip, insisting on the protection of the civilian population, on the provision of community support and especially for the peaceful resolution of this conflict.
Also yesterday, in New York, the prime minister met with the president of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder. The discussions focused on the situation in the Gaza Strip, but also on supporting the Romanian community in Israel and the Jewish community in Romania.
