The General Mayor of the capital, Sorin Oprescu, announced he asked the Minister of Education to provide a day-off for students on Wednesday when the Europe League final s due. School Inspectorate of Bucharest Municipality has approved the request.
School Inspectorate of Bucharest Municipality announced that on May 9, when the Europe League final takes place, courses will be suspended in all schools in the capital, following the request of the General Mayor Sorin Oprescu.
“The heads of educational establishments shall take measures for intensive recovery of the subjects, so to be assured full completion of school programme until the end of the year”, said the School Inspectorate of Bucharest Municipality in a press release.
Suspension of courses on May 9 will be communicated to the students, parents and teachers by school managements.
According to representatives of the School Inspectorate of Bucharest Municipality, the City Hall, applied, Friday, for the suspension of courses on May 9, in all pre-university educational units in Bucharest, considering that on the National Arena will take place the Europe League final.
The municipality has stated in the request that a decision on the suspension of the main courses will mainly resultto a smooth running of the event in good by streamlining the traffic, taking into account the large number of supporters who will accompany the two finalist teams and also the large number of tourists who will visit the capital.
“We want that on May 9, schools may not work at all, so that parents, grandparents may not have a care and a stress in addition to coaches who come to the stadium”.
“May be the children will want to accompany their parents to the performances, but it is not only up to us”, said Sorin Oprescu.
The General Mayor appealed to Bucharest citizens that on the day of the match, as much as possible, they do not use their personal cars, especially in the sporting arena area and in the two areas equipped for fans, respectively in the George Enescu and Constitution Square.
Also, Traffic Police has already announced certain restrictions of traffic in these areas, as well as the diversionary routes recommended to the drivers.

On the day of the match, Bucharest Public Transport Authority(RATB) will supplement with 45 busses, that will run on special lines, in order to ensure the supporters transport from the airport to the two “fan zones”, as well as to the National Arena.
Metrorex will also run with extended programme up at 2: 30 pm-3: 00 am, in order to ensure the transport of Bucharest citizens and foreign supporters.

In George Enescu Square will be organized an area for the fans of Athletic Madrid team, and in Constitution Square the area will be dedicated to Athletic Bilbao supporters.
In these areas there will be 50 young volunteers Spanish-speaking, who will wear t-shirts with the insignia "Preguntame" (Ask me).
In airports and in the two fan-zones, foreign tourists will find leaflets with information on attraction places in Bucharest and the map of where the National Arena is.
Those who did not find match tickets will be able to watch UEFA Europe League final in Constitution Square, where there will be installed four large screens.
The head of the capital has announced that Sunday will be held an expanded headquarters, where will also participate the representatives of order forces , Inspectorate for Emergency situations (ISU) and Ambulance, in order to develop the latest organizational details.
Asked what he thinks regarding the warning of the Spanish Foreign Ministry on his own citizens to avoid traveling to Bucharest to prevent stray dogs bites, Mayor Sorin Oprescu considered this announcement as a diversion intended to stop tourists to come to Bucharest.
At the same time, he gave assurances that there are going to be taken actions to collect stray dogs.
