The authorities are speeding up the transition into relaxing the restrictions imposed by the COVID - 19 epidemic in the context of the positive evolution seen in the last few weeks. The first measures will be applied at the end of this week, President Klaus Iohannis announced yesterday.

Klaus Iohannis: Starting May 15, the wearing of the mask outdoors will be eliminated, with a few exceptions, of course, such as markets, fairs or public transport stations. The second measure that takes effect immediately is the removal of traffic restrictions at night and at the same time any restrictions on the program of commercial agents. Also this weekend, outdoor sports activities will be possible with 25% of seats occupied, so with spectators. Weddings, baptisms, festive meals outdoors - a maximum of 70 people can participate starting with June 1, and a maximum of 50 people inside from June 1. from July 1 the number increases, and from August 1 the number increases again. However, if the organizer guarantees that all participants are vaccinated, the restriction on the number of participants is waived.

The president and members of the government discussed at the Cotroceni Palace about the management of the epidemic, the development of the anti-COVID vaccination campaign and measures to relax the restrictions to be finalized and announced by the executive.

Their application will depend on compliance with the rules that will remain in force and the intensification of the national immunization campaign, said the head of state, noting that the target of 5 million vaccinated people is kept until June 1, and then, over the summer, one million newly vaccinated people every month.

According to yesterday's report, there are 3.789.000 people who have received at least one dose of vaccine.
