Lake Ursu in Sovata, Romania - the only heliothermal lake in Europe - opens on Friday, June 21st. Lake Ursu is very beneficial in the treatment of arthritic, rheumatic, posttraumatic, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, gynecological and sterility disorders, thanks to its sapropels and water full of oligominerals. Tourists can benefit, in one of the spa centers here, from procedures such as electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage with sapropelic mud and warm thermal baths.
“Swimming in the lake will only open between 10:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00. There is this break according to prescriptions of the National Agency for Mineral Resources, under whose protection the lake operates, for protecting the sludge and salted heliothermal water”, says Director of SC Balneoclimaterica SA Sovata, Nagy Janos.
“Over the past years, tourists who went out of the lake for lunch had to buy other entrance tickets for the afternoon, now they can stay inside the pool, but they have to respect the swimming forbidden time schedule", explains Nagy Janos. "Tariffs are unchanged: 30 lei for adults, 20 lei for children, soldiers, students; beach chairs are rented”, he states.
Lake Ursu, unique natural wonder in Europe, is the largest salty and heliotherm lake in Europe, has an area of over 40,000 square meters, a circumference of almost 1,200 meters and a maximum depth of over 18 meters.
