Many Romanians spend their winter holidays in the mountains. Although it hasn’t snowed too much, some ski slopes are open, due to artificial snow facilities.
Lots of investments have been made in cable transport facilities, so the number of kilometers that can be skied has increased.
RRA Reporter Constanţa Comănici: Romania has almost 350 ski slopes, with a length of over 160 kilometers. However, skiers say that they are concerned about the fact that ski slopes are generally short and are not inter-connected. Dedicated skiers qualify as excellent tracks those in Poiana Brașov, Campulung Moldovenesc, Sinaia and Vatra Dornei. They consider especially the difficulty of the slope, not just the length. Ski conditions are also excellent in resorts on the Prahova Valley, Azuga, Bușteni or Predeal. Same situation in Păltiniș (Sibiu), Straja (Hunedoara), or Transalpina (Vâlcea).
