Simona Halep is the number 1 favorite at the Transylvania Open WTA250 tennis tournament, whose main picture includes 5 sportswomen from the top 30 in the world, including Emma Raducanu, writes Agerpres.

"At the Transylvania Open we could witness the first meeting of the two, on the field! After being the best player in the world for a long time, Simona is now 15th in the WTA and returns in force, after a recovery period", the organizers specified.

Emma Raducanu, the winner of the US Open 2021, said she is delighted to play in front of Romanian fans.

"I am extremely excited to play at the Transylvania Open, in front of Romanian fans. My father is from Romania, so to participate for the first time in a WTA competition in the country where he was born is a special moment and I can't wait to get to Cluj", said Raducanu.

The second favorite of the tournament, ahead of Emma Raducanu, is the Belgian Elise Mertens (18th place WTA). In fourth place is Anett Kontaveit (23rd place WTA).

Transylvania Open WTA 250 will take place in Cluj-Napoca, between October 23-31, 2021. The matches will be played on hard, in BT Arena, and the competition will start with two days of qualifications.

This tournament is the last on the calendar before the WTA Finals, and 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams will compete in it. The stakes include 280 WTA points and $235.238 prizes.
