Sibiu nominated for the best European tourist destination

City of Sibiu is nominated to compete in 2020 for the best European tourist destination. Nomination was made by organizers of "20 European Best Destinations" competition, coordinated by a European association based in Brussels, which aims to promote culture and tourism in Europe - Sibiu City Hall announced on Thursday in a press release.
City of Sibiu competes alongside famous tourist destinations such as Vienna, Athens, Rotterdam, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Prague or Reykjavik. In the bid submitted, Sibiu City Hall promotes five of its key tourist destinations: the historical centre with tourist attractions, the museums and churches of Sibiu, the events, the tourist activities and the surroundings that make the city even more attractive.
“Sibiu is a unique destination in Europe, an authentic location that offers visitors something for everyone's taste, real and unique experiences, in a beautiful destination. Due to the efforts of the local authorities, Sibiu is renowned for the quality of life, being one of the European cities most appreciated by inhabitants, but also investors, startups and companies. Its cathedrals, colorful houses, but also its many cultural institutions such as the Brukenthal Museum, its quality events, unique places such as the Bridge of Lies, bring international fame to Sibiu, a city that is currently experiencing growth of visibility also on social networks, being one of the locations that looks very good on Instagram”, say the organizers - European Best Destinations Association – on why they chose to nominate Sibiu for this year’s competition.
Competition for the best tourist destination in Europe takes place from January 15 to February 5, and the Mayor of Sibiu, Astrid Fodor, urges the people of Sibiu and those who love Sibiu the city to vote on the competition website: http: // vote.ebdest.în /.
Since 2009, the European Best Destinations Association has collaborated with over 300 European tourist offices and is a partner of EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence Network). Destinations promoted by this platform enjoy a number of over five million website visitors and over 90,000 people who follow the platform's publications on social channels.
