There are serious wrongdoins in Romania’s healthcare system – said, at a conference on the fight against corruption and fraud, representative of the Directorate of Investigation of Economic Criminality within the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, Commissioner Daniel Bratu.
He explained that the cases investigated by the economic police include the one regarding the fake computer, a practice widely used, when the hospital units make settlements at the Insurance House.
Commissioner Daniel Bratu on types of wrongdoings in the system: Starting from corruption, taking-giving bribe and conditioning the medical act with receiving certain undue benefits, to fictitious hospitalized cases, fictitious insurance resettlements, embezzlement of funds, improper work execution. Many managers of hospital units have attracted funds from the local budget or Bucharest municipality, to make investments or to purchase systems used in the medical act, but without any efficiency.
