Daniel Funeriu stated on Radio Romania that Romania could not afford to treat the education system otherwise that "with full seriousness".
The Minister of Education gave assurance that the following year would stand out as a year of serious commitments.
As for the teaching staff positions, Daniel Funeriu stated that they had been 100 percent occupied.
"Therefore, the positions have been 100 percent occupied. On Sunday there was a small, a very small number of somewhere around 20 positions from over 300 000 that was not yet occupied. Thus, the objective to occupy the positions has been entirely reached", the Minister of Education stated in an interview granted to Radio Romania.
He added that all teachers were qualified, including the supply teachers.
"80 percent of the staff are tenure teachers, 18.7 percent supply teachers, but supply teachers that have been marked with high grades at different selection exams, a novelty that has been introduced this year and that I want to underline", the minister explained.
According to him, the number of those that would have entered the system without obtaining good grades has been reduced with almost 300 000.
"If we had not taken these exigent measures when selecting the teachers we would have hired
between 20 000 and 30 000 people that would have entered the system the old way without even having the necessary qualifications", Daniel Funeriu explained.
