New drone fragments have been discovered near Periprava, Tulcea county, among those fallen on Romanian territory after the Russian attacks on Ukraine on Saturday night.
The military is continuing the search, but gives assurances that all areas suspected to have been hit by drone debris are in uninhabited perimeters.
Ministry of National Defense spokesman, General Constantin Spinu: Teams from the Ministry of National Defense, in cooperation with specialists from the Romanian Intelligence Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have searched the vicinity of Periprava, in Tulcea county, where they have picked up fragments of a Russian drone, which will be examined according to legal procedures. In the next period, research actions will also be carried out in the vicinity of Caraorman, where another possible impact area has been reported. It should be noted that both the investigated area near Periprava and the possible impact area near Caraorman are located in swampy areas, outside the localities, and no infrastructure elements have been affected.
On Saturday night, the inhabitants of Tulcea were warned by Ro-Alert messages about the possibility of falling objects from airspace on Romanian territory.
People were advised to go to cellars or civil protection shelters for a few hours or to stay indoors, away from windows and outside walls.
