Rovana Plumb is Romania’s designated European Commissioner. Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă considers this nomination a success for Romania, although opposition is against it, being reluctant on Plumb’s capacities to fulfill the duties of a European Commissioner.
First Vice-President of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Raluca Turcan: We believe that the Government of Romania is at great risk by supporting Rovana Plumb for the position of a European Commissioner. The hearings in the European Parliament are not a play. Also, the vote in the European Parliament and in the committees is and will be very tight. In other words, Viorica Dăncilă risks very much Romania's interest by supporting Mrs. Rovana Plumb.
USR-PLUS Alliance strongly opposes this appointment, especially as concerns have been expressed regarding the integrity and competence of this candidate. Also President of the People's Movement Party (PMP), Eugen Tomac, also claims that Rovana Plumb is completely inadequate to manage a European portfolio.
