Romania’s President said that “there is no danger that the population will be left without electric energy”. The head of the state added that there is the possibility that the power exports will be suspended.

The president Traian Băsescu stated, on Monday, that the interruption of energy supply for the population is out of question, also mentioning the possibility that the executive will decide about the suspension of the power exports.

The president said he wanted “to clarify something due to a release of the Ministry of Economy or other structure responsible for the country’s energy situation”.

“There is no danger that the population will be left without electric energy” announced the president, also saying that, if by any chance, the big energy suppliers would suffer damage, they would proceed according to a plan.

“The interruption of energy supply for the population is out of question” Traian Băsescu added.

The president explained that Romania exports 500MW/h and at peak hours the exported quantity can reach 1400 MW.

“In the next period of time, every export will be suspended until the consumption will return to normal parameters”, the president Traian Băsescu added.

“There is the possibility that the opposition will be in the parliament again”

The president Traian Băsescu also specified that, analyzing the government program and the 15 points from the speech of the leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Victor Ponta, he realized that there are seven points that coincide, which could mean that there is a solid base of discussion about the possible return of the opposition in the parliament.

The head of the state mentioned that, in relation to the dialogue with the opposition, he suggested to the parliamentary parties to start negotiations about the conditions under which the opposition should return in the parliament.

Traian Băsescu said that during the weekend he analyzed both the government program and the 15 points presented by the PSD leader Victor Ponta in the speech he held at the parliament at the investiture of Ungureanu’s govern and realized that there are seven points that coincide.

“If the parties will see this coincidence as well, it means that there is a solid base of discussion about the possible return of the opposition in the parliament”, the president added.
