Romania's ambassador to the United States, Andrei Muraru, said that Romanians settled on the North American continent supported Romania's NATO integration by sending letters to Congress, and emphasized that this could also work in the case of the Visa Waiver program.
Andrei Muraru: We believe that the Visa Waiver is a moment in which people could gather. I think we all know that the moment that made Romanians gather around a goal was in the late 90s, early 2000s, for NATO integration - and I'll give you just one example: they sent over 160.000 of letters to the American Congress through which they told the congressmen why it is important for Romania to be part of NATO, and I think we can still do this.
