Romanians have become more generous during the pandemic.
Last year, donations to humanitarian cases have almost tripled, according to the analysis of an association that owns an online donation platform.
Most of the money was donated by bank transfer, online payment by card, SMS, but also by PayPal.
Thus, the amount raised by the "Hope for Romania" Association - a humanitarian NGO - reached over 2.6 million euros in 2020, compared to only 900.000 raised in 2019.
From five cases managed per month, the association has reached over 300, and donations now amount to about 6.000 euros a day.
In 11 years of activity, the "Hope for Romania" Association has reached over 200.000 donors, collecting over 4.7 million euros through its online platform and another 400.000 euros through SMS campaigns.
The association was founded in 2009 and focuses on helping children and adults with cancer, leukemia and other serious illnesses.
