Romanians have more purchasing power than Greeks, Hungarians and Bulgarians, according to an estimate of actual individual consumption released today by Eurostat. Thus, in 2020, Romania had 79% of the European Union average, ie a purchasing power 21% below average.
In this ranking, Romanians are equal to Estonians, but surpass Greeks, Slovaks, Latvians, Hungarians, Croats and Bulgarians. Luxembourg has the highest purchasing power, followed by residents of eight other countries, which exceed the Community average.
Another method of measuring the standard of living, taken into account by Agerpres, indicates that last year Romania had a purchasing power of 72% of the Union average, equal to Latvia and over that of Greece and Croatia, but behind Poland or Hungary.
