Romanians’ favorite destinations for the New Year

Romanians’ top three favorite destinations to celebrate the New Year are the City of Braşov and the mountain resorts in the Prahova Valley, such as Predeal, Sinaia, Bușteni and Poiana Braşov. Few of the Romanians will party in a club or a restaurant, but most of them will spend New Year's Eve together with friends and family, in their own or friends' homes.

Romanians who decided to welcome the New Year abroad mostly chose Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Bansko (Bulgaria), Dubai, Paris, Rome, Istanbul and Barcelona as their destinations, travel agencies say.

Those who will welcome the New Year outdoors, in public squares, will have the pleasure of attending mega-parties hosted by municipalities in Bucharest and other cities across the country. And since many people will party in the street, the main concern for authorities is security, which is why a large number of police officers and gendarmes and fire-fighters will be on duty throughout the New Year’s events.
