Romanian citizens outside the country's borders will be able to access consular and online services, according to a draft law adopted today by the Chamber of Deputies, as a decision-making body.

It is about an extensive digitization of these services, so that people can receive documents, on demand, either by courier services or in electronic format.

USR deputy Stefan Lorincz, one of the initiators: In 2022 alone, there were over one million requests for consular services. Practically, the Romanians from the diaspora had to physically travel over a million times to the consulates, sometimes even hundreds of kilometers away. I think the time has come that this practice of traveling hundreds of kilometers to obtain a document at the consulate must remain a thing of the past.
