The Romanian training and counseling military team, which will end its mission in Afghanistan at the beginning of next month, will be decorated by the US Army.
For 15 years, Romanian troops have acted alongside coalition partners or NATO missions in this theater of operations with seriousness and professionalism, which brought appreciations to the Romanian Army.
RRA Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Mario Balint: "The Romanian soldiers have managed to build a solid reputation as the best ambassadors of Romania, wherever they are.
For 15 years now, the deeds of the Romanian militaries in Kandahar always generate beautiful words.
Romanian Colonel Ştefan Stan: "Regarding the work carried out by the Romanian military at command and, most importantly, by the soldiers deployed at the base, the activity of our troops was greatly appreciated.
I was often stopped by to be congratulated by officers of varying degrees: look, they did a great job, they haven’t seen something similar.
For example, all the members of our training and counseling team will receive medals from the US Army and I think that the most important appreciation and satisfaction is what you see in the eyes of the soldiers with whom our troops operated; we saw that in the eyes of the captain who was involved in the last incident; I am now alive thanks to the Romanian soldiers who operated in the "Guardian Angel" team.
They were, indeed, guardian angels for me".
The 280th Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Focşani took over the responsibilities of the 151st Infantry Battalion "Black Wolves".
The militaries from Focșani will become 100% operational in a few days".
